Erika Montero is a lifelong learner, an avid mompreneur, and a skillful teacher. From her platform @SoyCyberMujer, hundreds of Latin women had conquered their fear around technology and had learned to develop new digital skills.
M: What is SoyCyberMujer?
Erika Montero: SoycyberMujer is a platform to empower women in the development of digital skills. I teach women to create online courses and use digital tools.
M: Why do you decide to embark on this entrepreneurship?
Erika Montero: One day, I found out that I was a very savvy techie. My friends always asked me something related to technology. So I thought that it would be an excellent idea to share my knowledge.
I decided to research it, and I found out that it is true: the digital divide is real, and affects more women than men. As a result, I created SoyCyberMujer, and my mission is to empower Latino Women in the use of technological tools that contribute to increasing the digital productivity of their businesses. Something that started on a YouTube channel to share what I knew has grown into a thriving digital business.
M: Where do you see SoyCyberMujer in 10 years?
Erika Montero: As a benchmark brand in empowering women in the development of digital skills.
M: How being a mom has influenced your work and career?
Erika Montero: The priority had always been my kids, and from that starting point, I have designed actions to satisfy my professional goals. Therefore, starting an online business was determined by my role as a mom. This kind of work allows me more freedom to manage my time, work from home, and be present in my kids' life. Even though I have to admit that sometimes the computer or the cellphone grabs too much of my attention.
M: What advice do you have for other entrepreneur moms?
Erika Montero: It's a fact that technology impacts all areas of our lives. Information and Communications Technology has transformed and will continue to change the way we communicate, learn, work, and live. We are living in a digital world. Digital transformations wait for no one. To thrive, networking, training, and lifelong education are the core ingredients to success today. The invitation is to start learning today and make sure you don't get left behind.
Every woman entrepreneur has to develop digital skills and learned the different tools that she can use to be more productive and successful in their business.
